catch one’s attentionは、注意を引く、関心を引く、興味を引くなどの意味で使われる英語フレーズです。

Cambridge Dictionaryの定義では次のように説明されています。

to make someone notice something and feel interested:
誰かに何かを気づかせ、興味を持たせること

A car on the road caught my attention.
道路を走る車が目に留まった。
The colorful display caught my attention as I walked by the store.
お店の前を通ると、カラフルなディスプレイが目に飛び込んできました。

もちろん自分以外の人でも使えますよ！

The headline of the article caught his attention.
その記事の見出しが彼の興味を引いた。
She used humor to catch the audience’s attention at the beginning of the presentation.

make a splash は、大きな影響を与える、注目を浴びるなどの意味を持ちます。より多くの人からの注目を集めたり、大きな反響を呼んだりしている場合に使われます。
